Innovation leading to better performance, higher productivity and improved standards of living is one of the many catchall solutions offered to policy problems today. For instance, in the healthcare sector, studies have shown how important aspects such as distributed leadership, building staff capability, patient-centered healthcare service design, creating interdisciplinary and multi-skilled teams (Medical Emergency Teams) and the improved use of integrated knowledge networks (THINK) can be in process innovation, thus improving quality of service and ultimately driving higher performance.
