Department of Corrective Services (DCS)
An analysis of current training needs by the Department of Corrective Services (DCS) identified a gap in the opportunities offered to staff in the upper levels of management at DCS. In 2011, Murdoch University’s Executive Education Centre (EEC) proposed an integrated approach to the provision of an advanced leadership and development program targeting upper level managers across DCS. EEC was awarded the contract to design, develop and deliver the program for three years, with an option for a further two years.
The program was designed and delivered as a Graduate Certificate in Services Management to a post graduate level and includes the following subjects:
- Module 1 – Organisational Behaviour
- Module 2 – Strategic Planning and Thinking
- Module 3 – Trends in Corrections and
- Module 4 – Cultural Competency
In addition to the Graduate Certificate program, EEC has delivered for DCS a three-day Managing by Project Simulation and various workshops including Cultural Intelligence, Contract Administration and Finance and Corporate Citizenship plus modules for their Leadership Development Days.
