Lecturer in Communications
I am a Communications and Media Scholar, the Singapore Discipline Lead (Communications and Society, Creative Media & Arts) and Lecturer in Communication at the College of Arts, Business, Law and Social Sciences (ABLSS), Murdoch University. Based at the Murdoch Singapore Office, I am also Faculty supervisor of the Murdoch Singapore-Institute of Public Relations Singapore Student Chapter, and a member of the Singapore Academic Board at Murdoch University.
Passionate about collaborative work, teaching and inspiring others, I am a firm believer in lifelong learning, cross-disciplinary education, and innovative research projects. Some organisations I recently worked collaboratively with include Google Singapore, Singapore Federation of Chinese Clans Association, Crescent Ratings, and other local and Australian schools and Singapore universities.
I continue to engage in studying the transformation of the Asian region’s diverse media industries, having worked in Singapore’s media sector for over 14 years. Previously, while at the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA), I was seconded to the Industry Division with the previous Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA) from 2008-2010, and prior to that I was with the Singapore Broadcasting Authority (SBA).
My work spanned areas covering industry development, public service broadcasting, international co-productions, market policy, international relations, ASEAN relations, and marketing communications.
Having worked with the public sector, industry and also having lived in many different countries, I’m keenly interested in social, cultural, technological and economic developments, related to global, Asian and new media, cultural and media policy, strategic communications, arts, design thinking, creative industries, and media literacy.
