Dr Preman CHANDRAN
Dr Preman Chandran is Lecturer and Singapore Discipline Lead for Business at Murdoch University (Singapore).
Preman began his academic career in 2013 at the University of Lancaster in the United Kingdom, initially as an Economic and Social Research Council Fellow before progressing on to Lecturer (Assistant Professor). He relocated home to Singapore in 2021 and pursued opportunities first as an adjunct faculty at Curtin University (Singapore), and subsequently as Assistant Professor at SP Jain School of Global Management (Singapore Campus). Preman specializes in leadership and management studies and has taught extensively in these areas at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Before academia, Preman worked in general management and HR administration at his family-owned business in Singapore from 2006 to 2013. This allowed him to develop deep interests in small business management, leadership, and entrepreneurship, which he has developed further through his academic research. His research interests are in the subject area of leadership, particularly in the context of entrepreneurial settings and family businesses, and negotiation theory and research.
Preman holds bachelor’s, Masters, and doctoral degrees in business and management, and completed his postgraduate qualifications on scholarships at the University of Lancaster. He also holds professional qualifications in academic practice, training, and coaching, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, United Kingdom.
