Last week Murdoch Singapore hosted 33 young undergraduate scholars from across Australia in Singapore for an intensive leadership program called the ‘Disruptive Leaders Program’.

The program, sponsored by the $100 million Westpac Scholars Trust, provided unique cultural and industry experiences for the students who are enrolled in STEM degrees.

Professor Peter Waring (Pro Vice Chancellor Transnational Education and Singapore Dean) stated that “We were delighted to work with Westpac Scholars Trust and Common Purpose UK to deliver fantastic learning experiences for these future leaders.”

The students heard from Murdoch Singapore Alumni including Mr Freddie Yeo (Chief Operating Officer Infinite Studios), Mr Bara Pasupathi (CEO Jetstar), Ms Mathilda D’silva (CEO Ocean Purpose Project), Dr Shawn Ee (Clinical Psychologist & Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, The Psychology Practice) and Mr Cai Yinzhou (Founder, Citizen Adventures).

Murdoch Singapore students were also paired with the visiting students to provide them with a deeper cultural understanding of the city state.

Professor Peter Waring said “It was terrific to see these young bright scholars engage with the sustainability and technology challenges faced by Singapore, and be inspired by Singapore’s imaginative responses. “
